Can the floor hatch be installed with wood flooring?
Yes. Our timber-finish hatches include a recessed insert tray matched to the depth and profile of your wood flooring. Hardwood, engineered timber boards, LVT, and parquet planks can all be accommodated.
How is the hatch aligned with the wood floor boards?
The frame is cut to align with your board direction and width so the boards appear to continue across the hatch. Provide your board dimensions and we will dimension the frame accordingly.
Will the timber insert expand or contract with humidity?
Yes — timber moves with humidity changes. The insert tray includes adequate clearance for seasonal wood movement. For high-humidity environments, we recommend engineered wood or LVT rather than solid hardwood.
Is the hatch visible when the floor is laid?
When closed, only a 1mm hairline gap is visible. There are no visible handles or hinges on the surface. Optional flush-pull fittings recess completely into the panel.
Can I lay the timber boards myself during installation?
Yes. The insert tray is supplied without timber so you can lay your own boards or use a professional flooring installer. The tray dimensions and any cutting templates are provided with the hatch.
